Sam Cooke is my favorite musician of all time, full stop. He performed many songs that we consider classics today, but his version of A Change is Gonna’ Come felt appropriate for the first edition of the Nawn news letter.
Change is definitely coming as the project gears up for full on construction, transforming a building that has been derelict and vacant since I was but a wee lad into a vibrant new asset for Boston. That will take a while, but thankfully that is not the only change we have in mind for our readers.
Internally we are also changing our focus as the project reaches a major inflection point. While the building is under construction, our talented team wants to create and curate off site events for you to enjoy. Keep an eye out for future editions where we may invite you to a dance party, a yoga class, a public performance where you can catch the latest work from the creators at the Nawn.
We also hope to change how you find local events, and what you do with that information. things to do with your family, friends and loved ones. If you are anything like me, you are more than willing to get out and support local arts if you could just find the right information at the right time. We want this to be the place you turn to.
On the other hand, we also see the challenges for local artists in being discovered. Do you have an event you want us to promote? Get in touch at hello@theNawn.org.
One thing has definitely not changed. For anyone who was reading my social media posts before I started this news letter; I am still sharing my latest thoughts, experiences and stimulating media with a dash of the humor you have come to know and love. The format may have changed, but some things remain the same.
